{Ashley} Tree frog! (8 photos).

Last Thursday, the boy found a tree frog out on the minis, and we couldn’t help but get him to pose for a few pics: (click for larger images)

I love that he brings me miscellaneous creatures to photograph – frogs, turtles, snakes… It was, however, a poisonous frog, so I didn’t play with it haha

{Ashley} Arnie’s (27 photos).

Renee and I visited her hometown of Higgins Lake, Michigan, for a few days early this week. We had a lot on our plate in the short amount of time we had, but I think we maximized our time, and got in so much!

Monday, she took me to a local art supply store, Arnie’s. The store was huge, and full of a wide variety of almost any artistic product you could imagine! We were like kids in a candy store. If we didn’t have to get back for dinner, we would’ve never left…

So that’s our eye candy for the week. Everything in the store was sooo gorgeous. A must-stop if you’re around Houghton Lake, Michigan.

{Ashley} Heidi (1 photo).

Earlier this week, I bought myself a new lens. This is one of the first photos I took with it.

This is my cat, Heidi ♥

I liked it because it feels very autumny — a mysterious black cat, warm autumn colors, soft candlelight glow.

Now, Heidi is extremely difficult to photograph, especially in low light. She rarely seems to want to sit still when my camera is out. So I’m hoping I can get a few better ones out of her in the weeks to come ;)

{Ashley} Red Berries (6 photos).

Good Thursday morning — Renee & I are having some down time here at Panera before we start our days. It’s a cool, 55° day, and the sun is starting to peak out from behind the clouds with a blaring force. I just had a delicious cranberry orange muffin & am sipping on a cup of coffee. Mmm… Yes, I do believe this is a good way to start your day.

Yesterday morning, I stepped outside for a quick second with my camera and caught some ethereal shots of a berry tree in my backyard. Enjoy :)

{Ashley} Farewell Summer! (3 photos).

Labor Day has come and gone, signalling the official start of school in Michigan. But all the Back-to-School sales aren’t the only things declaring that summer is over. Here in Metro Detroit, nothing can describe our current weather other than GLOOMY GLOOMY GLOOMY. The temperature is rapidly dropping (from highs in the 80s to the 50s in a few days) & dreary rain clouds are rolling in.

At the beginning of the month, before summer started to seemingly wither away, I snapped a few very seasonal shots. Looking through them brings a tad of warmth to me on this 50° day as I remember the high temps and bright sunshine that were abundant just a week ago…

So as the leaves are already beginning to fall, I say farewell to summer and prepare to bundle up in my autumn jackets and hand-crocheted scarves ^.^
